WWE to Introduce Tag Team Championships to the Women’s Division in 2019

Merry Christmas, everyone! It’s that time of year once again. Monday Night RAW, to the surprising criticism of fans, aired a pre-taped show on the eve before Christmas. Now, understandably, most people did not tune in because they were with families, attending Christmas parties, or are just really sick of the repetitive nature RAW now has. BUT, for those of us that turned the channel to the USA Network, got a surprising announcement from Vincent K. McManta Claus himself: Alongside a cage match between Dolph Ziggler and Drew “Don’t Mention 3MB” McIntyre, and the return of Super Man himself, John Cena, WWE will be crowning their first-ever WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions in 2019.

Women’s Tag Team Championships

During a promo from the Chairman of WWE dressed as Kris Kringle, Vince McMahon dropped the bomb that 2019 would finally be the year we would see a team win the first WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. Alongside Evolution, the Women’s Royal Rumble, the Women’s Elimination Chamber, Renee Young being added to the Monday Night RAW commentary team, and Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey rumored to main event WrestleMania 35, this is just another HUGE milestone for the women of WWE.

Fans and Superstars alike have been demanding it for years, and it is finally happening.

Superstars React

With this announcement to bring in Women’s Tag Team Champions, several female Superstars, most of them in teams, showed their excitement.

Obviously they are filled with joy at the announcement.

What Does This Mean?

It means women get tag titles! Well, naturally. We will get to see the stables on each brand taken seriously. The Riott Squad, The Boss N’ Hug Connection, The IIconics, Rose and Deville, The Bellas, and maybe even Natalya and Beth Phoenix (if WWE wants us to have a heart attack) will finally have a prize for their teams. Now these random women’s tag matches each week will mean something.

WWE has yet to say just how or when the titles will be debuting. We’re not even sure what the championships look like yet. What we do know for sure is that they will be here in 2019. Maybe a tournament culminating at WrestleMania 35? Maybe Evolution 2019’s main event will be for the tag titles? We can only wait with eagerness until WWE is ready to pull the trigger.
