Arsenal and Tottenham will meet once again this season in the Carabao Cup at Emirates Stadium. Unai Emery would like to replicate the league victory from earlier this month.

Back on December 2, the North London derby saw the Gunners take a storming 4-2 win over the Spurs. Perhaps the biggest win for Emery since arriving in London, closing several years of struggle at the hands of the Spurs. However, their 22-math undefeated run came to an end against Southampton this past weekend.

Meanwhile, a victory and revenge by Tottenham would ignite a course towards their first silverware since 2008 when they won the League Cup.

One of Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino’s biggest criticism is not winning any silverware since joining in 2014. His defense has always been establishing the club in the top-four since.

Team News

The Gunners have several defensive long-term absentees with Konstantinos Mavropanos and Rob Holding. Shkodran Mustafi, Sead Kolasinac and Hector Bellerin are all doubtful, however, the Spaniard is likely out.

Moussa Dembele and Victor Wanyama will sit out for the Spurs. On defense, Davinson Sanchez, Serge Aurier and Jan Vertonghen are all doubtful.

Additionally, having sat Christian Eriksen and Heung-Min Son, both are probably starters for Pochettino.

Possible Lineups

Arsenal XI: Cech; Sokratis, Mustafi, Monreal; Jenkinson, Xhaka, Torreira, Maitland-Niles; Ramsey, Ozil; Aubameyang.

Tottenham XI: Lloris; Trippier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose; Dier, Winks; Alli, Eriksen, Son; Kane.

Prediction

Having lost the first derby of the season, Tottenham are looking at avenging their 4-2 lost. However, the stakes are not as high in this fixture as they would in league action.

Meanwhile, Arsenal will try to get back on the winning column after suffering a lost this past weekend.

This will be the 184th edition of the North London derby. Arsenal leads the head-to-head action with 77 wins over Tottenham’s 57.

The last time the Spurs won at Emirates Stadium was in 2010. With the Gunners being thin on the defensive side and the Spurs being pressured for some silverware, the edge will be on Tottenham’s side.

Arsenal 2 – 4 Tottenham
