Watford vs Manchester City Preview

Premier League champions travel to Watford to play midweek for the 15th Week matchup.

The Hornets started the season on a 4-0 run until they stumbled upon Manchester United. Since, they have only managed two more wins. However, they are on a winless streak with their last week coming against Huddersfield on Oct 27.

City leads the Premier League by two points with Liverpool lurking up as they matchup against Burnley. Additionally, the current champions will be without Sergio Agüero who suffered an abductor injury on Monday.

Team News

Pep Guardiola rested the 30-year-old against Bournemouth due to muscle fatigue. However, the co-top-scorer for City suffered a muscle injury during the team’s training. City is hopeful he will be ready against Chelsea.

Nevertheless, City will also be without Oleksandr Zinchenko who suffered a broken nose against Bournemouth. Claudio Bravo, Kevin De Bruyne, Eliaquim Mangala and Benjamin Mendy continue to be sidelined due to injury.

The host have no major absentees other than Frenchman Étienne Capoue. He was booked for a red card against Leicester City last Saturday. Javier Garcia’s will also be without Adalberto Peñaranda and Tom Cleverly due to lack of fitness. Daryl Jammaat is doubtful for the match.

Predicted Line

Watford Predicted XI: Foster; Masina, Kabasele, Cathcart, Femenía; Chalobah, Doucouré; Pereyra, Hughes; Deulofeu, Deeney.

Manchester City Predicted XI: Ederson; Delph, Laporte, Stones, Walker; Silva, Fernandinho, Silva, Sané, Jesus, Sterling.

Prediction

These two sides last met in January, with City winning 3-1. However, the Blues’ last visit to Vicarage Road saw City winning 6-0 with an inspired Agüero who scored a hat-trick.

Together with Agüero, Raheem Sterling has eight goals to his count. Additionally, Leroy Sané is atop of the list of assists with five. With these two next to him, Gabriel Jesus can shine for Manchester City and in absence of Agüero.

It’s hard to predict against the Blues aside when facing top six teams. Though it will be hard against Watford, Manchester City will come on top with their top three offensive players scoring while deepening the Hornets more in the standings.
