Boston Celtics Rout the Chicago Bulls At Home 111-82

The Boston Celtics started a 3-game home stand against the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls have been struggling so far this season with a 4-11 record. This became the perfect opportunity for the Celtics’ offense to get some extended run, and they took advantage of it. The Celtics took control of the game as soon as it began, and did not let up until the final buzzer.

Jaylen Brown had a surprisingly good game, finishing with 18 points and holding Bulls guard Zach Lavine to a 3-11 shooting night. Moreover, the other 4 Celtics starters also had a solid game. Every Celtics starter scored in double figures against the Bulls porous defense. It’s also an effort by the Celtics that hasn’t been seen yet this season.

The Offense was Flowing Last Night

A common complaint in this early campaign is the lack of ball movement. The team was getting trigger happy with bad shots, and dribbling way too much. Last night was very different. The ball was swinging around the court in an effort to get the best shot possible. This reflects in the blanched scoring sheet for every player.

Most importantly, this game also solidified Gordon Hayward’s role with the team. Throughout his entire career, Hayward has been known as a scorer first and a passer second. This season he has been an intelligent ball handler with a high passing IQ. It’s almost like Hayward and Irving share the responsibility of running the offense. From the outside viewer Hayward is having a bad season because his numbers have been down. However, his play on the floor dives way deeper than numbers.

Player of the Game: Kyrie Irving

It seems like every game Irving is the best player on the court. Last night was no different. Irving finished with an efficient 17 points and 7 assists. He was carving out the Chicago defense on every possession, and his basketball IQ is off the chart. His feel for the game is amongst the elite in the league

Honorable Mention: Jaylen Brown

A Look Forward to the Next Game

The Celtics continue their homestand as they welcome the Toronto Raptors to TD Garden. The Raptors lost to the Detroit Pistons in heartbreaking fashion last night due to a Reggie Bullock buzzer-beater. The Celtics need to find a way to contain Kawhi Leonard by throwing multiple defenders at him, and stopping him from getting to the rim.
