Gameday features no. 2 Clemson vs no. 17 Boston College

College Gameday will make their way to Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts this Saturday to witness Clemson vs Boston College. Clemson can clinch the ACC Atlantic division with a win. Boston College would need to win this game and the next to win the ACC Atlantic division. Last year, this game was close until the Tigers exploded in the fourth quarter to defeat BC 34-7. The games between these two teams have been usually close each year, but this game could have the makings of a blowout the way the Tigers have been playing lately. Will Boston College be able to keep up with Clemson and steal back the O’Rourke–McFadden Trophy for the first time since 2010?

Clemson O vs Boston College D

This Clemson offense is coming into this matchup averaging over 538 yards per game in total offense (273 passing, 265 rushing). Boston College’s defense is only allowing 366 yards of total offense per game (222 passing, 144 rushing). Clemson has plenty of playmakers on the offensive side of the ball that are going to cause problems for Boston College. Unlike the previous teams Clemson has played, Boston College has a decent defense and they usually play the Tigers tough. Pick your poison, Boston College, because you are going to have to keep the Tigers from scoring at will and that won’t be easy.

Advantage: Clemson

Clemson D vs Boston College O

If Boston College do it all back AJ Dillion were not hampered with injuries, I would like the Eagles offense a little more. Clemson’s defensive strength is stuffing the run and they kept Dillion in check last year when he wasn’t injured. The good news is that starting QB Anthony Brown for Boston College is taking care of the football tossing 16 touchdowns vs 5 interceptions this season. The Eagles will need their young QB playing at a high level to have a shot. Unfortunately, this will be the best defense Boston College has played all season, their best player is going to be limited, and I don’t think they are deep enough in talent to keep up.

Advantage: Clemson

What will happen…

College Gameday will be in town and the lights will be bright. The last time College Gameday covered Clemson, Trevor Lawrence struggled to sustain drives when given the opportunity against Texas A&M. Boston College won the last time College Gameday was in town (2008) beating Florida State 28-21. Clemson is going to play a lot of guys, so the first quarter may be a barn burner. Boston College may even manage a scoring drive to keep the game close early. However, Clemson is going to get going at one point and will win by double digits. This is a rivalry game and I could be wrong, but Clemson has answered the challenge in traditionally challenging games against conference rivals Florida State, NC State, and Louisville already this season. Clemson wins and continues their march to the College Football Playoffs.

What do you think? Does Boston College pull a shocker and beat the Tigers on primetime?
