Top Safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix has Been Traded to the Redskins

Right as the trade deadline approached, the Green Bay Packers traded away their top safety. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix is joining the Washington Redskins for a 2019 fourth-round pick, NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported.

Clinton-Dix was drafted 21st overall in 2014. During his career in Green Bay, he recorded 14 interceptions and 5.5 sacks. In addition, this is tied for eighth in the NFL since 2014. As a result of his high caliber season, he was picked to the Pro Bowl in 2016.

The Pro Bowl safety has three interceptions, one sack and a forced fumble on the season so far. Clinton-Dix signed a four-year $8.3 million contract in 2014. He will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2018 season.

The Redskins’ New Member

The Redskins made out very well with this deal. The All-Pro safety adds to their defensive secondary. The team has D.J. Swearinger on their side, who for the most part has played at a high caliber so far this season. Yet, the rest of their secondary consists of free agents and top special teams players.

Clinton-Dix can add depth to the roster and make big plays the Redskins need. He has the speed and power that the Redskins have been searching for.

Because of their 5-2 record, the Redskins sit nicely at the top of the NFC East division. Their remaining schedule includes four more inner division games. Above all, one game, in particular, will most likely be a matchup that will get fans hearts racing. Washington will play the Eagles in Week 13 on Monday Night in Philadelphia.

According to the latest release on Pro Football Focus, the Redskins now have two top-ranked safeties in their secondary.
