Real Madrid Confirms Sacking Of Lopetegui

Real Madrid have confirmed the sacking of Julen Lopetegui in a club statement.

Additionally, in the statement, Real Madrid says:

“The Real Madrid C.F. board of directors, which met today, 29 October 2018, has made the decision to terminate Julen Lopetegui’s contract as the club’s coach.”

“This decision, which was taken with the utmost responsibility, seeks to bring about a turnaround in the first-team’s fortunes at a time when all of this season’s targets are still achievable.”

Lopetegui’s Time Table

May 31st – Zinedine Zidane and Real Madrid announce he was leaving the club after winning three consecutive Champions Leauge. However, he left the club after unsuccessful winning seasons in La Liga and Copa del Rey.

June 12th – Lopetegui takes post and replaces Zidane at Real Madrid.

June 14th – Lopetegui is fired by Spain for taking the post at Real Madrid with consulting with the national team.

August 15th – Real Madrid loses their first international final since 2000 under Lopetegui.

September 15th – Despite being 3-0 in La Liga, the team was not playing to its best form. Additionally, they draw against Athletic Club at San Mames.

September 19th – Real Madrid regains hope after defeating Roma 3-0 at Bernabeu.

September 26 to October 20 – Los Blancos go on a bad slump, going 0-1-4.

October 28 – The debacle at Camp Nou where Madrid loses 5-1 to bitter rivals Barcelona.

What’s To Come

Castilla coach Santiago Solari will take over the reigns of the club until further notice. For several weeks, Antonio Conte’s name has been dropped around. However, many issues are still pending with his previous post at Chelsea.

Meanwhile, the club will follow its course until they find the right man for the club.

Among the coaches that club president likes are Jose Mourinho (Man U) and Mauricio Pochettino (under contract with Tottenham).

Despite not being able to sign those two, both are doing bad in Premier League.
