Julen Lopetegui Will Be Sacked, Conte To Replace

According to multiple reports in Spain, Real Madrid will sack Julen Lopetegui following the 5-1 debacle at Camp Nou.

However, his post was already in jeopardy following several bad results in La Liga and Champions League.

Meanwhile, the club is said to be considering the hiring of former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte.

Nonetheless, Lopetegui oversaw the club’s training session behind closed doors on Monday.

The club, however, will likely promote Castilla coach Santiago Solari if unable to hire Conte.

If Conte’s hiring tangles, another possible replacement is Roberto Martinez currently with the Belgium national team.

Reasons For Lopetegui’s Dismissal

A string of bad results is the ultimate reason for Real Madrid considering his dismissal.

Nonetheless, the humuliating 5-1 loss to Barcelona at Camp Nou is the straw that broke the camel’s back.

A win would had surely saved his post temporarily as the club doesn’t have a suitable replacement.

Despite this, this season Lopetegui has lost five matches, four in La Liga and one in the Champions League against CSKA Moscow.

However, his short four-months tenure will end rather dramatically just like his Spain dismissal was.

Lopetegui replaced Zinedine Zidane during the summer after the Frenchman left the club after winning three straight Champions League.

Lopetegui’s Replacement

About a week ago, Corriere dello Sport reported that Real Madrid had been in contact with Conte.

The Italian left Chelsea this summer after two seasons at Stamford Bridge.

However, the 49-year-old has a legal dispute to settle with the English side.

Reports indicate that this legal issue is what is stopping Real Madrid president Florentino Perez from hiring Conte.

Conte won the Premier League in his first year as manager and an FA Cup in his second season.

Previously at Juventus, Conte won three straight Serie A titles.
