The New York Rangers Beat Down the Florida Panthers 5-2.

The New York Rangers beat down the Florida Panthers in Madison Square Garden by a score of 5-2. Mika Zibanejad and Mats Zuccarello both had multi-point nights.

The Panthers woes still continue as they only have one win in the past seven games.

Michael Hutchinson made 15 saves on 19 shots before getting pulled.

As a result, James Reimer would come in relief and make two extra saves.

On the other hand, Alexander Grigoriev made 36 saves in his second game of the season.

1st period

It seems the new defensive pairings are working well for the Panthers. Michael Matheson made a sweet play to stop a breakaway from Mats Zuccarello early on after and Aaron Ekblad turnover.

Goal: FLA 1-0 FLA

Vincent Trocheck would give the game its first goal on the power play. After a wide shot, he would receive the puck from Alexander Barkov from the back of the net and take it to the bottom of the wing. He would skate up to the faceoff dot and rip it pass Alexander Grigoriev. Additionally, the goal was assisted by Evgenii Dadonov.

Shots on goal were 14-5 in favor of Florida.

2nd period

Goal: NYR 1-1

Zibanejad would tie this game at 1 with a shorthanded goal. After a big turnover at center ice, Zibanejad would perform a wrap around and the stick would bounce off of Keith Yandle’s stick. The goal was also assisted by Adam McQuaid.

Goal: NYR 2-1 NYR

Zuccarello would give the Rangers the lead on the power play. After a faceoff win by Zibanejad, the puck would roll to Neal Poink, who would then feed it to “Zucc”. He would proceed to shake off Juho Lammiko and shoot it off of the dot from the left wing. The puck would roll in behind Hutchinson.

Goal: NYR 3-1 NYR

Zibanejad would score his second of the game on the power play.

Three of their five goals in this game would come on special teams.

Shots on goal were 24-17 in favor of Florida.

3rd period

Goal: NYR 4-1 NYR

Zuccarello would net his second of the game immediately after the faceoff win from Mika Zibanejad. After getting the puck from the faceoff win, he would fire it from the top of wing past Michael Hutchinson.

After this, Hutchinson would be pulled for the night.

Goal: FLA 4-2 NYR

Mike Hoffman would extend his point streak with a sweet wrap-around goal. The goal was assisted by Johnathan Huberdeau and Aaron Ekblad, his first point of the season.

Goal: NYR 5-2 NYR

Kevin Hayes would dish it into the empty net, putting the game on ice. After a scramble in front, Jesper Fast would take it and make a sweet pass between his legs. Hayes would rush in and bank it into the empty net. The goal was also assisted by Brady Skjei.

Final shots on goal were 38-22 in favor of Florida.

The Road Ahead

Florida (1-3-3)

Florida goes to Brooklyn for their second of this back-to-back to take on the New York Islanders on October 24th at 7:00 pm.

New York (3-5-1)

The Rangers will travel to the Windy City to take on the Chicago Blackhawks on October 25th at 7:00 pm.
