Ben Simmons Leads 76ers To Victory Against Bulls

A home victory was just what the doctor ordered for The Philadelphia 76ers. The 76ers defeated the Chicago Bulls 127-108 on Thursday night in their home opener, evening their record to 1-1. The win is a huge deal because they dropped their season opener against the Boston Celtics on opening night. Ben Simmons led the way for the 76ers with a triple double. Simmons had 13 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists in 34 minutes played.

Similarly, the Bulls came out with a hot start in the first quarter. The Bulls offensive production came mostly from Zach LaVine and Bobby Portis. LaVine had 30 points and Portis scored 20 on the evening. However, the second quarter was when they started losing control of the game. The 76ers outscored them 27-17 in the period.

It finally created an opening for Simmons to start taking over the game in front of an electrified crowd at the Wells Fargo Center. Joel Embiid created nightmares for the overwhelmed Wendell Carter Jr. by pouring in 30 points, snagging 12 rebounds and coming up big on the defensive end with four blocked shots.

Consequently, it helped Embiid earn his second straight double double on the season. He was not alone as he had company in the double double club. Dario Saric finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Also, Markelle Fultz had a solid showing. He  had 12 points for the 76ers after a disappointing performance on Tuesday night. As a result, his offseason work on his shooting touch seems like it’s paying dividends because he knocked down his first three pointer of the season.

Up Next For The Philadelphia 76ers

Most importantly for the 76ers, they came out of their matchup against the Bulls healthy. They have a showdown looming against the Orlando Magic, who defeated the Miami Heat in their season opener, at home on Saturday night. They’ll be tasked with the challenge of trying to out maneuver Mo Bamba and Aaron Gordon because their front court is their strength.

Therefore, it probably should be a very good matchup because of the individual talent both teams have. Will the 76ers be able to hold onto the momentum from this win and earn their second home win of the season? Tune in Saturday evening to find out!
