DeMarcus Cousins Is Officially The Face Of Puma

Golden State Warriors All-Star DeMarcus Cousins has become the face of Puma. Cousins banks a multi-year shoe deal as Nike officially declined to exercise their match rights. This deal officially makes Cousins the most accomplished player to be signed by Puma. This was reported by Nick DePaula of ESPN +@NiceKicks  on Twitter yesterday.

This is a success story for Puma by signing one of the biggest NBA stars and most accomplished players in the league. Cousins will no longer lace up Nike Swooshes, but instead will lace up with the Puma Formstripe since Nike opted out of their match rights 10-day window.

Puma Launches Marketing Comeback

In Puma’s marketing comeback, they now boast NBA players in Terry Rozier (Celtics), DeAndre Ayton (Suns), and Rudy Gay (Spurs). This comes at a time when Nike also opted out of their 10-day match rights window for Gordon Hayward (Celtics) against the Anita brand.

It seems that Puma is looking to make a successful comeback by signing NBA stars while Nike is opting out. This could very well make the Puma brand widely recognized. It also just might be a sought-after signature shoe, especially with the addition of Cousins. Puma is taking advantage of the game by signing Cousins and other NBA players as Nike seems to have other plans.

This confirms an earlier report by Nick DePaula on October 10th of this year that ‘Puma’ was going to sign Cousins. Puma was only waiting for Nike to match or opt out before making it official with the Warriors big man.  This is exactly the push Puma needs to make a successful comeback. This is another incredible opportunity for Cousins as well. Puma is well on its way to winning the signature shoe comeback with Cousins as their star sporting Puma shoes.
