Yankees Set For Game 3 Against The Red Sox

Tonight is Game 3 of the ALDS between the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox. The Yankees are sending Wild Card-starter Luis Severino to the mound to take on Nathan Eovaldi. During his 2018 campaign, Severino is 19-8 with a 3.39 ERA with 220 strikeouts. He was “wild but effective” in the Wild Card Game and looks to continue the “effective” part against the Red Sox. In 2018, Severino has a 3.56 ERA against the Red Sox. He most recent start against them came on September 19th, where Sevy allowed one run in seven strong innings.

The Red Sox are sending former-Yankee Nathan Eovaldi to the mound. On the year, Eovaldi is 6-7 with a 3.81 ERA and 101 strikeouts with the Rays and the Red Sox. Eovaldi has been great since being traded from the Rays midseason. He hasn’t allowed a run in 16 innings against the Yankees since joining the Red Sox. Eovaldi dominated the Yankees in just his second start with Boston going eight shutouts innings, allowing just three hits. Game 3 can be seen at 7:40 pm EST on TBS.

Bronx Bombers Look To Take Advantage Of Home-Field

It was crucial for the Yankees to “steal” a game in Boston. In any playoff series, you do not want to find yourself in an elimination game on your home turf. With the next two games in New York, the Yankees look to capitalize and finish the series off or force a Game 5 back in Boston. Both teams are almost equally as strong at home as they are on the road. At Yankee Stadium this year, the Yankees are 53-28. The Red Sox are 51-30 on the road in 2018. With a playoff atmosphere, expect Yankee Stadium to louder than ever. The Yankees will look to continue to slug their way back to the ALCS. Expect a lot of homers, a lot of runs, and just a lot of action in Game 3 at Yankee Stadium.
