Golden State Warriors Fall To Timberwolves

In yesterday’s preseason-opening game, the Golden State Warriors fell short of a victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Warriors lost 114-110. They got off to a hot start in the first half. The starters started off great, but the team struggled in the second half. The Warriors shot 56% from the field, including twenty-four assists on twenty-eight made baskets. Throughout the first half, they kept the lead and at the start of the third quarter, they were up by eleven.

The Timberwolves rallied in the second half and began to cut into the Warriors lead. It quickly became a back and forth game between the teams. With two and a half minutes left in the fourth quarter, the Timberwolves tied the game. They played with a sense of urgency and would eventually grab the win.

The Warriors were on point from the three-point range with Stephen Curry making four three-pointers in the first quarter. Curry put up twenty-one points, Klay Thompson had seventeen points, and Kevin Durant would follow with sixteen points.

Jordan Bell had seven rebounds, Draymond Green and Tyler Ulis each had four rebounds. Durant and Jones also had four rebounds as well.

Green had eight assists, Quinn Cook had five assists, and Curry dished out four assists.

Rookie Jacob Evans made a decent NBA debut and put up four points. He tied the game with a mid-range jumper. The younger roster came out with energy and there were some key plays made. But they could not make a comeback from the deficit in the fourth quarter. With two and a half minutes left in the fourth quarter, Warriors coach Steve Kerr gave the reserves an opportunity to get minutes.

The Timberwolves held the reserves scoreless and ultimately would go on to win the opening preseason game. There were a lot of great plays and there’s a lot more to look forward to from this All-star Warriors team. At this point, they need to build off their strengths and improve upon their mistakes. All in all, it was just a lot of fun to be able to watch Warriors basketball once again.
