Takeaways From Boston Celtics Media Day

This past Monday, the media and the Boston Celtics got together for the Media Day festivities. This is a way for new players to introduce themselves to the fans, and to get people excited for the new season. There were many notable moments from yesterday, but here are some that should excite Celtics fans for the future.

This Boston Celtics Team is Scary

The Celtics welcomed some new pieces this season along with some familiar faces. The starting lineup is finally healthy, which is featuring All-stars Kyrie Irving, Gordon Hayward, and Al Horford. This goes along with the young stars Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, who complete the Celtics starting five. The team was also able to retain bench pieces from last season in Marcus Smart and Aron Baynes, creating the best bench mob in the entire NBA. Lastly, we got to see the Celtics latest draft pick, Robert Williams III, in a Celtics jersey.

This is one of the very best Celtics teams in years. Their stardom, along with depth and culture, makes them a threat to not only the East, but the entire NBA. It all comes from the masterminds that are Celtics coach Brad Stevens and general manager Danny Ainge, who designed a team that is about winning. Brown and Tatum Are Ready to Put the League on Notice

Last years playoffs was where Brown and Tatum broke out. The two of them took a depleted Celtics roster to the Eastern Conference Finals and were one win away from the NBA Finals. This upcoming season, they plan to take it up a notch. Brown has been quoted as saying, “Some of the things people critiqued me on in the past, it’ll be interesting to see if they critique me on them this year”. This is encouraging to see Brown’s confidence so high, because he has major potential to be the best player on this team a few years from now. When first looking at Tatum, it is easy to see that he has been putting in work in the weight room. Hopefully, he can build off of last year’s season and be invited to this year’s All-star game.

Kyrie Irving Has All But Re-signed

Irving is the Celtics superstar returning from a season ending knee injury. It is apparent that he is 100% after surgery, and will be in the lineup on opening night. The quote that made headlines on Monday was when he was when he said, “There are times where I think about having No. 11 in the [Boston] rafters hopefully one day. That’s the dream.” This is a sigh of relief to all Boston fans because there have been rumors about him going to the New York Knicks in 2019 since he debuted with the team. With Irving seemingly locked in for the future and back at full strength, there should be a new banner hung in TD Garden at the end of this season.
