NFL Week 1: Chicago Bears vs Green Bay Packers Recap

The first Sunday night game was one that would never be forgotten. Bears at Packers game went from a possible blow-out to a complete shocker. It seemed that the Packers were going to start 0-1 after Khalil Mack decided to bring his A-game in the first half. The Chicago Bears looked like nothing was getting passed them. They came out strong, scoring a touchdown on their first drive then a field goal on their second. While the Packers started with three-and-outs then a lost fumble on their first three drives.

The first half of the game was a nightmare for Packer fans. The Bears shut out the Packers with a score of 17-0. The Packers defense fell down on their job. No sacks in the first half. But the Packers defense stepped it up in the second half, bringing down QB Mitchell Trubisky three times. Outside linebacker Nick Perry recorded a strip sack with a minute left in the game, sealing it for the Packers. They also only allowed two field goals and leaving the Bears in the dust at Lambeau, 24-23.

Kahlil Mack

Mack had a stunning first game as a Chicago Bear. He came out to play, showing why he deserved his $90 guaranteed. Mack recorded one sack, one interception, a defensive touchdown and a fumble recovery. The last time someone did all that in a single half was 1982. By the way, the last person to accomplish all that in a full game- Khalil Mack.

Aaron Rodgers

“MVP” the crowd chants as Rodgers exits Lambeau at the end of the game. Rodgers made his return and didn’t look so hot at the beginning. Playing for only two drives and throwing one for five, Rodgers was carted off to the locker room because of a possible knee injury. He returned in the second half stronger than ever, looking like the QB everyone knows. Down 17? No problem watch Rodgers work. Even with not putting pressure on his left leg, he took the Packers down the field immediately for a field goal. Rodgers then threw an on-the-money pass to WR Randall Cobb for a 75-yard touchdown to take the lead with two minutes left in the fourth.

Stat Leaders

Bears

Michell Trubiky- 23/35, 172 yards, rushing TD

Jordan Howard- 15 carries, 82 yards

Allen Robinson- 4 receptions, 61 yards

Packers

Aaron Rodgers- 20/30, 286 yards, 3 TD

Jamaal Williams- 15 carries, 47 yards

Randall Cobb- 9 receptions, 142 yards, TD

Devante Adams- 5 receptions, 88 yards, TD

Geronimo Allison- 5 receptions, 69 yards, TD

Fantasy

Aaron Rodgers missed most of the first half, but came out swimming in the second. His knee makes him questionable for week two against the Vikings. But if Coach Mike McCarthy says he is good to go, no question start Rodgers. Rodgers receivers are all healthy and even with a back-up QB they are in good shape. TE Jimmy Graham didn’t show up, only two receptions for eight yards. With Cobb and Adams still favorite targets of Rodgers, starting another TE might be smart for week 2. Robinson was only targeted seven times. His four receptions led him to 61 yards but your league will be hurting if you continue to start him.
