Luke Harder and Tyler Breeze Return to NXT for a House Show Appearance

This past week saw the return of two NXT Alumni: Luke Harper and Tyler Breeze. During a live house show in Buffalo, NY, the two former NXT Superstars made a surprise appearance and competed in matches. Harper competed in a match with Ricochet. Breeze had a match with NXT newcomer Dan Matha.

The reason for this is because of both men’s injured tag team partners being out for a period of time. Harper’s partner, Eric Rowan, was sidelined after SummerSlam 2018 with a bicep injury. Fandango, Breeze’s partner, was injured back in July with no new news on his recovery.

A Sort of Homecoming

Luke Harper and Tyler Breeze are both NXT Alumni. Harper was once half of the NXT Tag Team champions with partner Eric Rowan. Tyler Breeze once had a match with Jushin Thunder Liger at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn… No, seriously.

Since coming to the main roster, each man has had a different level of success. Breeze teamed with Fandango and created the fan favorite Fashion Files during the team’s run on SmackDown Live. Harper has had high caliber matches with Randy Orton, AJ Styles, and Dolph Ziggler. Harper is also a former Intercontinental champion and SmackDown Tag Team champion.

Since each wrestler isn’t being used on television, it is good to see them using their time to continue entertaining the WWE Universe in some way. Maybe it would be a good idea to have other unused talent make appearances in NXT; Maybe even make a full return to the developmental brand. Superstars such as Dana Brooke, Bobby Roode, Mike Kanellis, and Mojo Rawley could maybe find a career resurgence after a few matches in NXT; It worked for Tyson Kidd and Natalya in the past.

It is always great to see Superstars returning to their roots every once in a while. Obviously, this was just a handful of matches while Harper and Breeze’s partners heal from their injuries. But it would be something special to see unexpected appearances like this happen more often.
