Earl Thomas Returns to Seattle Seahawks

All-Pro safety Earl Thomas is back in Seattle. Thomas returned to the Seahawks facilities and practiced on Wednesday. With just days until the Seahawks’ season opener, the return of Thomas is a big relief for the whole organization and its fans. Thomas had been holding out since OTA’s.

It is still unknown whether or not he will play on Sunday. Carroll told the press:

“[Earl Thomas is] one of the best players that plays the game … We’d like him to be a Seahawk for the rest of his career.”

Seahawks fans can be very happy with hopes that there won’t be another player scare like this one. Thomas is the last member of the infamous ‘Legion Of Boom’ still on the Seahawks roster. Thomas took to Instagram to address his return to the team.

This will be Thomas’ eighth year in the league and ninth with the Seahawks, so there’s no question his heart is set on Seattle. His teammates are definitely excited to have the perennial Pro-Bowler back. Last season Earl Thomas ranked third in assisted tackles among defensive backs. He was also ranked eleventh in combined tackles among defensive backs. The Seahawks would love to have that back on the field. Doug Baldwin told reporters:

“When I saw him sitting down in the meeting room, I couldn’t help but just go give him a big hug.”

Baldwin, another Seahawk veteran, is returning for his eighth year with the Seahawks so it’s no surprise to see the two having good camaraderie.

Thomas is already back on the field, as seen in his latest Instagram post.

Seahawks in Week One

This news comes just after the Seahawks announced rookie linebacker Shaqem Griffin as a starter for Week One. The team drafted Griffin out of UCF and he has been outstanding in the preseason and training camp. It was no surprise to many fans that Griffin was named the starter. Griffin will be playing on defense with his twin brother, Shaquill Griffin, as well.
