Cubs Open Four-Game Series Against The Nationals

After losing two of three games to the Brewers in Milwaukee, the Cubs travel to Washington to play the Nationals. In what should be an exciting four-game series between the two clubs. The Nationals haven’t been all that good this year. Even so, the Nationals always find a way to make these games interesting. And what a better way to start off the last month of baseball like a Hamels Vs. Scherzer round two. On Saturday the two Aces will square off yet again after dueling out previous time these teams faced each other.

Scherzer Vs. Hamels 2

In the last outing, these two men went at it. Hamels allowing just one hit and struck out nine batters. While Mad Max Scherzer struck out 11 allowing only three hits. There’s no reason it should be any different between the two this time. Only thing is Scherzer might be a tad better because he’s pitching at home. And the fact that Kris Bryant will be in the lineup, unlike last time. Cole Hamels in his past two starts has come back down to earth just a tad. However, is still putting up good numbers.

Hendricks Vs. Strausburg For Game One

Strausburg is an elite level pitcher when healthy and firing on all cylinders. However, this season has been riddled with injuries and missed playing time. Meanwhile, Kyle Hendricks has performed very well in his past ten starts. Not allowing more than four earned runs, and almost always able to keep the Cubs in the game. So, this could be a good chance for the Cubs to hop on Strasburg early and give Kyle a lead.

Offense Vs. Nationals Pitching

The Cubs offense this year against Nationals pitching in three games had been able to score 11 runs in total. So, I wouldn’t think to expect a lot of high scoring affairs this weekend. Expect it to be a close and competitive series all the way through. However, with the addition of Kris Bryant to the lineup, it may give the Cubs a slight boost in the greater scheme of things.
