Tottenham vs Watford Match Preview

Watford, England – An unlikely top-four clash awaits us as fourth placed Watford holds host to second placed Tottenham. Each of their 100% records will be on the line, after they both registered three wins in three matches. The match at Vicarage Road could shape up to be a really exciting one.

Watford have experienced a surprisingly great start to the season, with wins against Brighton, Burnley and Crystal Palace, their best start in the club’s Premier League history. The game against Spurs though, would really test whether the team is a genuine Europa League contender or not. Watford have lost only 1 of their last 10 Premier League matches, having won 6 and drawn 3. Who knows? We might have the next Leicester story on our hands. But lets not get too ahead of ourselves.

Spurs on the other hand will compete as the favorites. Their impressive win against Manchester United has more or less silenced the criticism they received after not signing a player during the Summer Transfer Window. January signing Lucas Moura though, seems to be like a ‘new signing’ though, with a Man-of-the-Match performance against United. The club be looking to continue their impressive form to challenge for Top-4 spot, keeping a keen eye on the title as well.

Team News:

Watford: Midfielder Nathaniel Chaloba is back in first team contention after a year long knee cap injury. Okaka is also expected to return back from injury. Gerard Deulofeu is still a no though.

Tottenham: South Korean International Son Heung-min will not be available for selection, due to the Asian Games. Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and midfielder Mousa Dembélé are also out due to a Thigh and Hamstring Injury respectively.

Ones to Watch:

Roberto Pereyra has been in hot form for the Hornets, having scored 3 goals in his last three matches. Christian Kabasele has also been solid at the back.

Lucas Moura has stepped up his game for Tottenham, having also scored 3 goals in 3 matches. Harry Kane is always a threat and seems to have shaken off his August curse. So expect goals from them both.

Predicted Starting 11:

Watford (4-2-2-2): Ben Foster, Darryl Janmaat, Craig Cathcart, Christian Kabasele, José Holebas, Abdoulaye Doucouré, Étienne Capoue, Will Hughes, Roberto Pereyra, Troy Deeney(C), Andre Gray.

Tottenham (4-4-2): Michel Vorm, Keiran Trippier, Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Ben Davies, Eric Dier, Harry Winks, Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen, Lucas Moura, Harry Kane (C).

Match Prediction:

Although Watford have won their past 3 games, they haven’t yet met top side like Tottenham. Spurs will be raring to go after having won at Old Trafford for the first time in 4 years. Plus, Tottenham have never lost to Watford in the Premier League era and they don’t seem prepared to let go of that streak anytime soon.

PREDICTION: TOTTENHAM 3-1 WATFORD
