Ronda Rousey to Defend Women’s Championship at Hell in a Cell

This past Monday on the latest edition of RAW, Ronda Rousey’s first title defense was announced: Ronda Rousey will face former champion Alexa Bliss at Hell in a Cell.

Ronda Rousey was crowned RAW Women’s Championship just nine days ago at SummerSlam. She defeated Alexa Bliss in a dominate display of raw aggression. Alexa quickly submitted to Rousey’s arm-bar and lost her championship. Ronda, full of emotion, celebrated in ring with Natalya and, for reasons that remain unknown at the moment, the Bella Twins. The next night, Ronda celebrated her title win with the other RAW female Superstars. She praised her fellow female Superstars for working hard and making the women’s division what it is today. She also stated her win was for everyone on the women’s roster.

The Challenge

Later in the same episode, before Natalya’s match with Alicia Fox, Alexa Bliss announced she will invoke her rematch clause. As if the match at SummerSlam wasn’t a dominant enough win, Ronda Rousey will face Alexa Bliss at Hell in a Cell. It has later confirmed later in the episode that the match will be taking place at Hell in a Cell.

This match should make the upcoming women’s exclusive pay-per-view Evolution very interesting. Ronda Rousey is scheduled to face Nikki Bella in the main event for the RAW Women’s championship. Alexa Bliss is scheduled to have a match against WWE Hall of Famer, Trish Stratus. If Alexa were to upset Rousey at Hell in a Cell, her match with Stratus may be for the title. Most likely, however, their match at Hell in a Cell will most likely be another short, one-sided squash that will see Ronda Rousey leaving as champion again.

Hell in a Cell will air live on September 16, 2018, via the WWE Network. Other matches confirmed for the event are Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman, Brie Bella and Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz and Maryse, and The Bar vs. The New Day for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships.
