Kenneth Faried Arrested for Possession of Marijuana

Kenneth Faried, the Brooklyn Nets forward, was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor criminal possession of marijuana, as reported by Anthony Puccio. Police spotted Faried in the rear of a car with more than two ounces of marijuana.

Police identified the two other men in the vehicle as Taurean Knuckles, 33 and Atar Hajali, 25. They were all stopped at a sobriety checkpoint in Bridgehampton, New York. The Southampton Town Police Department said they detected “a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle.”

The Outcome

As a result, police arrested Knuckles and Hajali for unlawful possession of marijuana. Both parties received appearance tickets. Eventually, law enforcement released Knuckles and Hajali from the scene.

Authorities transported Faried to the headquarters for processing. As soon as the “Manimal” paid his $500 bail, he called it a night.

Nets Reaction

On Tuesday, the Nets made a statement that they are aware of the situation involving Faried.

“We are in the process of gathering more information at this time.”

The Brooklyn Nets acquired Faried this off-season in a trade with the Denver Nuggets. Brooklyn also landed forward Darrell Arthur, a 2019 first-round pick (protected top-12) and a 2020 second-round pick for point guard Isaiah Whitehead in the trade acquisition. Faried spent his first seven NBA seasons with the Nuggets.
