Arizona Football Preview: The New Kings of the PAC-12 South

Maybe the most exciting conference division in all of college football is the PAC-12 South. As the departure of Sam Darnold and Josh Rosen leaves the division title wide open for the taking. Arizona, Behind the Talents of Khalil Tate. Is poised to be a front runner. They continue to bolster their team for a run with a new head coach Kevin Sumlin. Who has harnessed the talents of mobile Quarterbacks like Johnny Manziel and Kenny Hill. Sumlin though has not always been a consistently winning coach. But will that change in a new surrounding?

One Big Question?

Can the defense get better? As they were ranked 118th last year. And Sumlin has never been a defensive guru. (For reference. Texas A&M last year was ranked 78th) If they can get even a bit more production out of the defense this year. This team can go real far.

Prediction

I think this team has good enough talent on the offense to win the division. Pair that with a schedule that avoids Stanford and Washington. And the storm is perfect for them to win the South.

The only losses I see them taking are to USC, Oregon, and to either ASU or Utah. If they can win at least one of these games nothing will stop them from a conference championship appearance.

One Big Game

The USC game will probably set the stage for the division as its Arizona’s first real test. And a big game for USC’s new Quarterback.

Upset Alert

Whenever there is a rivalry game, the chance for a upset go up Ten-Fold. Both ASU and University of Arizona will be facing off under new head coaches trying to set the tone of their tenure, and there’s no better way than a classic duel in the desert to see who was right, and who was wrong. Its going to be another classic one for sure.
