Cameroon FA Appoints Clarence Seedorf As New Manager

Cameroon FA appoints Clarence Seedorf as new manager of the national team. Additionally, Patrick Kluivert was named as his assistant, the Cameroon FA announced on Saturday.

This comes after former England manager, Sven-Goran Eriksson, held talk with the Cameroon FA. However, failed to reach an agreement. Additionally, Eriksson turned down the vacant Iraq job. Alexandre Belinga had been acting as caretaker coach since Hugo Broos’ sacking.

What To Expect:

Seedorf takes over from Belgian Broos, who led the side to a surprise victory at the 2017 African Nations Cup finals. However, he was sacked in November after failing to qualify for the World Cup in Russia. Him and Kluivert will face the task of finding the right crop of players to defend their African Cup of Nations Cup next June on home soil.

Seedorf, who has held brief managerial spells at AC Milan, Shenzhen and Deportivo La Coruna, will be taking on his first national role in charge. Additionally, his Dutch compatriot Kluivert was assistant coach to Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal between 2012 and 2014. He was later briefly in charge of Dutch Caribbean nation Curacao.
