The Sacramento Kings Sign Wenyen Gabriel To A Two-Way Contract

The Sacremento Kings have signed Wenyen Gabriel. He will take up one of the two-way deals for the team. He will likely spend a lot of next season in the G-League.

Gabriel went undrafted after spending two seasons at Kentucky. He impressed the Kings enough this summer to earn this contract.

What Can We Expect Out Of Gabriel?

Wenyen Gabriel is a tough who has the potential to be a solid NBA player on both ends of the floor. He has the length to contest shots on one end of the floor. While having the skill on the offensive end to contribute.

He did only average 5.7 points per game in his two seasons at Kentucky. That number is low but that doesn’t mean he didn’t make any impact. He was a good shooter last season at Kentucky. He shot just under 40% from three-point range last season.

Gabriel also averaged 1.1 blocks per game last season. He doesn’t necessarily have a complete game but he has a good skill on both ends. Anybody who can shoot the three and block shots will have a chance to make it in this league.

That being said I wouldn’t expect him to play for the Kings much next season. He will be given the chance to improve his overall game in the G-League.

The Kings shouldn’t be competing for a playoff spot so it is possible we see Gabriel a little bit next season. It’s possible the Kings view him as a possible rotation piece for the future.

He’s got a shot to develop into a good role player for the Kings in a couple years. If he can continue to improve his three-point shot he will hang around the NBA for a long time. But if he wants to make an impact, he has to improve in other areas.
