Comeback Cubs Shock The Reds In Four Run 8th Inning

Kris Bryant sits out yet another game. However, it didn’t seem to matter. This Cubs team in the past week and a half has shown true toughness and ability to come back from a deficit. It’s exciting to see when it happens. That’s if you haven’t already turned off the game. However, if you stick through and the come back is completed it’s a great feeling and an even better win. And for that, the Cubs have earned the nickname “comeback Cubs” Yet having to stage late-game comebacks isn’t an ideal way to play. It takes a significant toll on the bullpen and even affects the hitters. Fortunately, the Cubs haven’t been too consistent with that style of play. I would venture to guess that a lot of Cubs fans feel that way also.

Tyler Chatwood Sloppy Yet Again, What Can Be Done?

No matter what happens, it always seems like this guy can’t get the job done. Giving up all seven runs the Reds were able to get. Chatwood undoubtedly his worse start since putting on a Cubs uniform. He’s lucky the offense and bullpen were able to bail him out of yet another failed start. Anyone who still has faith in Tyler Chatwood ever turning things around this season, I have major respect for you. For all I know I hope Chatwood is removed from the starting rotation when Darvish returns and replaced with Montgomery. Who has been head and shoulders above Chatwood this season and probably won’t change any time soon.

Cubs Offense Saves The Day

The comeback Cubs played well under pressure and pulled out yet another improbable comeback victory. Facing not one but two five-run deficits in a game frequently aren’t going to be overcome. The Cubs were able to pull it off today scoring four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. The game-winning run came on an Anthony Rizzo groundout that scored Ben Zobrist. Many players had big contributions at the plate. Such as Zobrist and Baez who both had two RBIs and both scoring a run.

Player Of The Game

Player of the game today would have to go to Javier Baez. Baez went 4-5 today with two RBIs, and a run scored extending his season RBI total to 61. And also adding onto his season HR total of 17. Another player worth mentioning for the player of the game is Ben Zobrist who had the huge two-run double in the eighth to bring the Cubs within one run. Ben also had two RBIs and a run scored in today’s game. The game was bleak for the most part until the comeback Cubs were able to complete the comeback.
