Cubs Extend Win Streak To Six Games, A New Season High

The Cubs have played very well after coming off a five-game losing streak. The Cubs extend win streak to six games after another come from behind victory against The Tigers. Jose Quintana had a good start keeping The Cubs in the game for six strong innings. Allowing just two earned runs and five hits on the day. Wilson Contreras had himself a nice day collecting three RBIs and two hits. The bullpen was quick and effective allowing just four hits from the sixth inning on.

Jose Quintana Tames Tigers Offense

Jose Quintana in my eyes has been a good acquisition for The Cubs. He struggled early when he first came over, but he caught his stride. Same goes this year he started off slow but is slowly starting to progress. Quintana has been either on fire or getting hit for four earned runs. Today he was on fire with a bend but don’t break mentality. Giving up two runs on five hits and allowing three walks. I would say Quintana di his job very well today and helped his team extend the win streak to six games.

The first four runs in the game were scored in four straight innings. The Cubs first run came on a David Bote homerun to centerfield, his first career home run. The second Cubs run was something that only Javier Baez could pull off with ease. On a 2-2 count to Contreras with no outs in the inning. Javier Baez decided to steal home on a fantastic swimming dive making the score 2-2. The score stayed tied at two until the sixth inning when Wilson Contreras launched the would be game-winning home run to give The Cubs a 3-2 lead. Wilson then later extended the lead by hitting a line drive to center driving in two runs making the score 5-3. It was another fantastic outing for the offense and can’t wait to see what they do against the Reds.

Player Of The Game

Player Of The Game today has to be none other than Wilson Contreras. Going 2-3 with three RBIs and a run scored being the primary power source for this offense today. Wilson who has had somewhat of a quiet year. Is starting to show some major life coming up big in clutch situations. And it showed today helping Cubs extend win streak to six games. We haven’t seen the number of home runs we thought we would see in him this year. However, as the saying goes “Home Runs come in bunches” and I couldn’t agree with that more. For Wilson, though it’s a matter of how many are in his bunch?
