World Cup 2018: Belgium vs Tunisia Preview

The Belgium vs Tunisia match will come to us from Spartak Stadium in Moscow. Belgium comes off a 3-1 win over Panama where their side had a difficult first half but was able to breakthrough the Canaleros’ defense. Nevertheless, they will be looking to cement a win that puts them in the Round of 16.

On the other side, Tunisia will try to survive an early exit from the World Cup and will try to stay up to par with the outstanding Roberto Martinez’s side. A side that has only lost one game since Martinez is at the helm.

Team Forms:

This will be the second time these two sides meet after their first encounter in 2002 at Korea/Japan. Vincent Kompany and Thomas Vermaelen continue to rehab injuries thus not being able to participate in practices.

Tunisia will be without goalkeeper Mouez Hassen due to a shoulder injury. The injury came on the 16th minute of the match against England in the first match of the World Cup.

Possible Lineups:

Belgium: Thibaut Courtois; Jan Vertonghen, Dedryck Boyata, Toby Alderweireld; Axel Witsel, Kevin De Bruyne, Yannick Carrasco, Thomas Meunier; Dries Mertens, Eden Hazard; Romelu Lukaku

Tunisia: Farouk Ben Mustapha; Yassine Meriah, Syam Ben Yousef, Dylan Bronn, Oussama Haddadi; Ellyes Skhiri, Anice Badri, Ferjani Sassi; Fakhreddine Ben Youssef, Wahbi Khazri, Naim Sliti

Prediction:

The two sides have met only three times in their history. In a friendly match, Tunisia claimed a victory over Belgium in 1992. In Korea/Japan, they spared a draw. Belgium later claimed a victory over Tunisia in June 2014.

While the most easy pick would be Belgium over Tunisia, I think the North Africans still have something left to proof and will at least seek a draw.

Belgium 1 – 1 Tunisia
