Real Madrid Make Deal For Rodrygo
Real Madrid have made a deal with Santos for teen sensation Rodrygo according to the Brazilian club’s website. The talented 17 year old will spend the next year with Santos and join Madrid in July 2019.
The fee is the highest ever to a Latin American club reveals Santos. The rumored amount is about $52.2m USD with about $5.7m going to the kid as a bonus. A press conference is on schedule at Santos Business Center for 2pm local time to present more details.
Santos thanked Madrid for “an attitude of professionalism” and expressed pleasure for “transparent” negotiations. Words that will no doubt stick out to anyone following Real Madrid’s hiring of Lopetegui and its subsequent fall out.
Who is Rodrygo?
Rodrygo is very much a product of Santos. Joining the club as a 10 year old, he impressed as a Futsal player with his high goal tally. He was called up to Brazil’s U17 team after he scored 6 goals in one match and became the youngest player to score in Copa Libertadores just two months after his 17th birthday. The teenager is a member of Brazil’s U20 team and currently Santo’s top scorer in Brazil’s Seria A League.
The Future
According to MARCA, Real Madrid’s other Brazilian “wonder kid” Vinicius Jr. says Lopetegui likes to give young players a chance. Rodrygo and the ever growing number of young talent in Madrid’s roster will be counting on just that as the 2018-2019 season approaches.
