Chicago White Sox Injury Update

The White Sox have had a slew of injuries this season in the minors and on the major league roster. With the help of Rick Hahn and some communication from the players themselves, we have some new timetables and information for the White Sox players currently out of action. So here is the Chicago White Sox injury update.

Avisail Garcia

Avi injured his hamstring on April 23rd and has slowly been progressing towards a return. He has been seen stretching out before games in the outfield. He currently has no specific date for return, but it depends on when he can get back to a full workload. Garcia has said himself that he looks to return soon and come back stronger than ever.

Carlos Rodon

Rodon just made his first start with Single-A Kannapolis on Sunday. He pitched 5 innings giving up 1 run on 3 hits and striking out 6. It was a solid rehab start for Rodon and according to general manager Rick Hahn, he will likely only need to make a few more starts in the minors before being called back up.

Luis Robert

One of the White Sox star prospects Luis Robert was given a more precise return date. Hahn said that Robert is likely to return to action in early June. He has been recovering from an injured left thumb ligament. Robert has been swinging in the cages and going through defensive drills. He should return with Single-A Winston Salem.

Alec Hansen

Hansen injured his forearm during Spring Training and has just started to return to action. He’s been throwing bullpen sessions to build his strength back up. He still has no timetable to return, but his recent move to bullpen sessions should be promising.

Kade McClure

Kade twisted his knee after trying to field a grounder in the first inning of his last start. Hahn said he doesn’t believe anything will need surgery, but McClure will be out for a while with a sprain in his knee. McClure has put together a solid season so far and a swift return would be great.

Zack Burdi

Fireballer Zack Burdi has been rehabbing since he tore his UCL back in 2017 which required Tommy John. His rehab seems to be going quicker than most thought. Rick Hahn believes he could be ready to get back in action around the All-Star break.

AJ Puckett

There was no real update for Puckett in this Chicago White Sox injury update. He was acquired in the Melky Cabrera trade last season. His elbow is still causing some discomfort.
