Atlanta Rallies Late To Beat The Cubs By A Final Score Of 4-1

After rallying late in yesterday game, Atlanta rallies late today to get the win against The Cubs. Like yesterdays game it was gridlocked at one run apiece until someone caved. Today it was the Cubs in a very frustrating way. Although there were positives that came out of today’s game, for instance, Tyler Chatwood excellent outing even though the Cubs did still lose. The offense again today was a struggle, and nothing seemed to be churning at all. It’s getting too far into the season to say ” it’s early” this team needs to find consistency, and it needs it fast.

Tyler Chatwood On Command, Pulled Too Early

As we all know with Tyler Chatwood comes nasty breaking pitches, but also a lack of command. Lack of control has been a trending topic for Chatwood throughout the season and looked to improve on it today. And he was able to only walking two batters in 5.1 IP he seemed to trend in the right direction today. He didn’t give up a lot of hard contact but did have critical defensive plays that helped him out. His ability to keep the ball on the ground and not have it go in the stands has been the key to his success thus far. However, if he’s going to keep being an effective end to the rotation. He’s going to have to work on his command and cut down on the walks. Today was a start in the right direction, let’s hope he can continue down this path.

Leadoff Men Succeed, Everyone Else Fails

The Cubs today had no problem getting on base, compiling eight hits and two walks. The real frustrating problem was their inability to move the runner after getting a leadoff base hit. The Cubs were 6-9 today with the leadoff man reaching. And five of the six times they failed even to move the runner a single bag. This is a team not too long ago for five straight games they averaged ten runs. The drop off doesn’t make much sense to me; yea team isn’t going to play at that high of a level all season. However, to go from averaging ten runs a game to having trouble scoring more than three. Is a concern that this particular team should be having this far into the season. Whatever it is I hope The Cubs can figure things out and get the ball rolling in the positive direction consistently.

Player Of The Game

Atlanta rallies late to win the game, and there is a still a player deserving of player of the game. Albert Almora Jr. has been some special defender out in the Outfield. Some are calling him the Javier Baez of Outfielders. And he is living up to the name after robbing Tyler Flowers of a solo home run in the bottom of the second inning. He has become an everyday highlight reel and is certainly making a name for himself throughout the MLB. And he can hit as well, batting .299 on the season with an OBP of .359 makes him an exciting player to keep your eye out for in the future.
