Nikki Bella and John Cena Call it Quits

Some things just simply aren’t meant to be. Even when things look good on the outside, trouble appears to be brewing on the inside. That sure seems to be the case with Nikki Bella and John Cena. The lovebirds announced their split and broke off their engagement just a few days ago. This announcement certainly came as a shock to wrestling fans and casual fans across the world. Perhaps the most unfortunate thing is that their wedding was set for May 5.

The bad news was confirmed by Nikki Bella’s Instagram post over the weekend. There, she noted that the “decision was a difficult one” and to “respect their privacy during this time.” Meanwhile, John Cena was busy posting pictures of shattered hearts and sad quotes.

Of course, there are conspiracy theories flying rampant all over the internet. A friend of mine actually sent a link to a YouTube video of a blurred woman who resembles Nikki Bella in an elevator with another man who is certainly not Cena. Of course, after careful watch, I can confirm that the woman is not likely to be Nikki. Regardless, there are many people who think that a cheating Nikki was the case.

However, let’s be realistic. We already knew that Nikki wanted to get married and have kids whereas John did not. This huge issue was brought up constantly on Total Divas. It may be safe to say that, at the end of the day, their thoughts and views on such a heavy subject were simply not the same.

Because Cena has been so adamant about not getting married, having kids, and having Bella sign a contract prior to moving in with him, it is interesting that he actually proposed at all. As a fan of each of them, respectively, it’s hard not to think that the entire proposal at last year’s WrestleMania was a farce, driven only by money.

Things have been on the rocks for awhile. In fact, over the weekend, I noted on Twitter that the pictures of Cena and Nikki at this year’s Hall of Fame Ceremony looked unnatural and forced. Cena had been appearing in less and less of her Instagram posts, and she did not come along to the Kid’s Choice Awards as everyone anticipated her to.

Many fans have wondered whether or not this break up is a publicity stunt. Could this be a big way to force people to watch the newest season of Total Bellas? Maybe. But honestly, I don’t think so. This is probably for real.
